Position Description

As a Registered Nurse, you will provide family-centered nursing care to children along the continuum of care. You will assess the nursing needs and provide care to support children and families as they experience illness and the response of treatment.

Here’s What You’ll Get To Do

  • Develop and implement a nursing plan of care for children undergoing treatments in the Dialysis Apheresis Unit
  • Work in collaboration with the child/family and the interdisciplinary health care team
  • Maintain clinical competence and knowledge base through continued education and life-long learning
  • Utilize evidence-based practice as a base in the promotion of professional accountability
  • Provide safe, competent and ethical nursing care

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • Baccalaureate degree and/or Diploma in Nursing
  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
  • 2-3 years experience in pediatric nursing
  • Experience with nephrology nursing, CVAD care and providing hemodialysis or apheresis treatments is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use your critical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork abilities

Scheduling/Availability Requirements:

  • Ability to work up to 1.0 FTE during Orientation
  • Shifts are scheduled for 11.25 hours Monday to Friday, and 7.5 hours on Saturday
  • Must be able to work on-call shifts for 12 hours overnight and 24 hours on-call shifts Saturday and Sunday and on Statutory Holidays
