You will be able to work with clients from diverse populations; contribute to program development; participate in clinical supervision; provide education support and supervision to students and participate in the research activities of the program.
Your skills include the ability to make behavioral observations; assessments including mental status and physical assessments; monitor patient’s response to pharmacological and non-pharmacological care interventions; documentation; and engage in ongoing communication with other team members.
You will have sound knowledge of emergency psychiatry, crisis intervention, recovery, addiction issues, culturally competent care, sanctuary model, mood disorders, trauma issues, group dynamics and severe and persistent mental illness. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position involves shift rotation and weekend work. This position is located at the Queen Street Site.

The successful candidate must be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario. A current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate is also required. A strong knowledge of trauma treatment and the ability to apply the principles of crisis prevention and crisis intervention are an asset. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to develop the Nurse-Client relationship and work within a collaborative and diverse inter-professional team. Effective leadership, decision-making, organizational, problem solving and group facilitation skills are required.
You have demonstrated ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the management of disturbed behaviour. Mental Health/Psychiatric nursing experience with individuals with mental illness and/or addictions is an asset. The ability to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds is necessary. Computer literacy is required. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
